In the heart of Velanai West, a new landmark has emerged, embodying the spirit of community and the power of philanthropy. The Light of Island Charity Building, a project brought to life by Dr. V. Sripanchalingam, a dedicated patron from the USA, represents more than just a structure—it symbolizes hope, education, and unity. Initiated in May 2023 and completed in February 2024, this nine-month journey was marked by a shared vision of creating a space that would serve and inspire the local community. The project’s success lies not only in its timely completion but also in its ability to balance cost-effectiveness with exceptional quality, a challenge embraced with enthusiasm by our team. From the initial design phases to the final touches, every step was guided by the client’s desire to make a meaningful impact, resulting in a building that is both functional and visually striking. The Light of Island Charity Building is a testament to what can be achieved when compassion meets craftsmanship, leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.
The Light of Island Charity Building is a multifaceted project that combines practicality with aesthetic appeal. The building features a spacious auditorium measuring 13m by 4m, designed with ample windows to ensure natural ventilation and an inviting atmosphere. Adjacent to the auditorium is a 4m by 4m room, providing essential storage and operational space. The building also includes three bathrooms, one of which is fully tiled with modern sanitary fittings, while the others are finished with cement rendering and paint. A 2-meter-wide verandah encircles the structure, adorned with attractive precast columns and a black cement-rendered floor, enhancing the building’s robust and elegant appearance. The exterior is characterized by white-painted walls with black borders framing the doors and windows, all crafted from mahogany and finished with a classic paint. The roof, a standout feature, boasts a unique design with two distinct angles, framed with Kempas wood and covered with asbestos sheets, adding to the building’s striking silhouette. This thoughtful design ensures durability and a commanding presence in the community.

The verandah, encircling the building, was designed to be both welcoming and durable, featuring precast columns and a black cement-rendered floor that complements the white-painted exterior walls. The doors and windows, crafted from mahogany and finished with a classic paint, add a touch of elegance and warmth to the building’s façade. The roof, a standout feature, was designed with two distinct angles to create a striking silhouette and enhance the building’s overall appearance.
